Hear Ye, Hear Ye One and All

It is with both pride and pleasure, that the Thunder is announcing the continuance of their involvement with Women’s Hockey at the highest level, as a member of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League.

The Canadian Women’s Hockey League will consist of a Central Division of Brampton, Burlington, Mississauga and Vaughan, and an Eastern Division of Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec.

They will be playing a 30 game schedule during the regular season, followed by playoffs. The top two teams in the CWHL will play a championship tournament against the top two Western Women’s Hockey League teams in March 2008.

The Thunder is proud to announce the formation of a new partnership with the Brampton Canadettes Girls Hockey Association. The Thunder is now the Senior representative of the Canadettes, and are looking forward to being part of the Canadettes organization.

Head Coach Donna Lynn Rosa who will be responsible for all on ice activity and player personnel; and the committed members of the Thunder Family that volunteer in many various capacities to complement the organization.

This year’s coaching contingent will include; Head Coach Donna Lynn Rosa, Associate Coach Carol Cooper and new Goalie / Associate Coach Trevor Reid.

Our on ice product with regard to player personnel will include the following players from last year’s NWHL Championship Team; Cindy Eadie (GAA 2.18), Mandy Cronin (GAA 3.60), Allyson Fox (0G, 8A for 8 Pts.), Krista McArthur (3G, 14A for 17 Pts.), Kim Devereaux (0G, 4A for 4 Pts.), Lori Loftus (0G, 5A for 5 Pts.), Vicky Sunohara (20G, 34A for 54 Pts.), Jayna Hefford (39G, 32A for 71 Pts.), Kathleen Kauth (14G, 11A for 25 Pts.), Lori Dupuis (13 G, 25A for 38 Pts.), Meredith Ostrander (2G, 7A for 9 Pts.), Sue McCutcheon (1G, 0A for 1 Pt.) and Kristy Zamora (13G, 6A for 19 Pts.).

In addition, we have acquired a number of other talented players, many of which fans will be familiar with, who will support our efforts in defending our Championship Season, such as;

Tiffany Hagge -Team USA Silver Medalist 2007 World Championships - Team USA Silver Medalist 2006 and 2004 Four Nations Cup - USA Under-22 team 2002-2005 - NCAA Frozen Four 2003,2004,2005 as a member of Dartmouth College.

Gillian Apps -Canadian Women's Hockey Team - 2006 Olympic Gold Medalist - 2 time world champion - 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 World Championship team - 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 Team Canada 4 Nations Cup - Dartmouth College All- American

Bobbi Jo Slusar – Former Captain at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and won 2 National Championships there - 4 yrs with Team Canada's U22 and won the Air Canada Cup in Germany with them, all 4 times – Gold medalist as Member of Team Canada (2006) in the 4 Nations Cup.

Molly Engstrom - Served as assistant captain and worked under the instruction of Icon Mark Johnson at the University of Wisconsin for three years earning All-American honors - received “The Badger Award” presented to the player who best exemplifies passion, humility and unity. Hockey Achievements - University of Wisconsin Hockey 2001-2005 - U.S. U22 National Team - World Championships, 2004-Silver, 2005-Gold, 2007-Silver - 2006 USA Olympic Team – Bronze Medalist

Returning to the fold once again will be; Brian Marks – General Manager of day to day operations / Equipment Manager, Brian R. Johnston – Media Relations / Head Scout, Steve Canning – Webmaster and Jean Redl – President “Thunder Row Fan Club”
